Course Offerings

Sketching Fundamentals (ages 7-10): students will dive into the basics of sketching, exploring drawing techniques and materials. Each week we’ll dive into new techniques while creating various drawing pieces in your sketchbook and on drawing papers that will be ready to frame. This class builds a strong foundation in drawing and for future art projects.

Figure Drawing 1 (age groups 7-9, 10-14, 14-18): students will focus on the human form with this introductory course on figure drawing. Learn the basics of proportion, anatomy, and gesture to bring your sketches to life with dynamic and expressive figures.

Figure Drawing 2 (age groups 13-15, 15-18): students will expand their figure drawing skills with advanced techniques and in-depth studies of anatomy. Students will also have the chance to draw a live dressed model. This course builds on the basics to help students create more detailed and realistic human forms. Pre-requisite: Figure Drawing 1

Drawing 1 (age groups 7-9, 10-14, 14-18): students will discover the essentials of drawing, from line work to shading, 2-D to 3-D, and gain confidence in artistic abilities. This course covers a range of subjects and introduces line, shape, form, and space; perspective and proportion; value; and texture.

Drawing 2 (age groups 7-9, 10-14, 14-18): students will take their drawing to the next level with more complex techniques and challenging projects. This course focuses on refining skills and exploring new subjects like sketching from life. Pre-requisite: Drawing 1

Acrylic Painting 1 (age groups 7-9, 10-14, 14-18): students will begin their journey into acrylic painting. They will learn about color theory, brush techniques, value and light, and composition to create vibrant and expressive paintings.

Acrylic Painting 2 (age groups 10-14, 14-18): students will enhance their acrylic painting skills with advanced techniques and more advanced projects. This course encourages experimentation and helps students develop a personal style. Pre-requisite: Acrylic Painting 1

Oil Painting (ages 13+): students will explore the rich and versatile medium of oil paint. They will learn about traditional techniques, oil paint history, color theory, and layering to create vibrant and confident artworks.

More Info:

• Courses are for ages 9 and up

• 60 and 90 minute weekly lessons for 8, 10, or 14 weeks

• If students feel they meet pre-requisites for a level 2 class, they are more than welcome to send art examples/portfolio to me to confirm they’re ready

• All courses are taught in my home in North Boulder

• All courses are taught in a small group 5:1 ratio to allow more in-depth and personalized learning
